At least two manhole explosions were reported Thursday in Boston's Financial District, injuring one person.

The incidents happened near 10 High St., Boston fire officials said. Two buildings located at 175 Federal St. and 10 High St. were evacuated.

Video from the scene showed shattered storefront windows and broken glass on the sidewalk and roadway.

"We had smoke issuing from two manholes -- one directly in front of 10 High St. and the other at the corner of Federal and High. It turned out that it may have been an overpressure situation, so we investigated all floors of the building, especially the basement area, to detect for carbon monoxide," Boston Fire Department Deputy Chief Brian Tully said.

"I had just gotten into work. I hadn't even put my bag down, and the whole building shook. I heard a very loud explosion," said Jeannie Fitzgibbons.

Tully said firefighters were working to reduce carbon monoxide levels in the buildings that were evacuated.

One person was taken to Tufts Medical Center via an advanced life ambulance, Boston EMS said. Tully said she suffered burns.

Boston Mayor Michelle Wu said one more person suffered non-life-threatening injuries in connection with the explosions.

The South Station and Purchase Street ramps to Interstate 93 were briefly closed during the response, state police said. Area surface streets were also closed.
